Pay Range: $80,000-$86,967 annual compensation

A Sr. Accountant position for Capital Assets is available with the Accounting Division of the Financial Management Services Department. This is an advanced level position requiring a high level of responsibility and successful candidate must be able to work independently and complete duties and projects with little direct supervision and minimal guidance

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of Governmental Accounting (Fund Accounting) concepts
  • Have a good understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Experience using PeopleSoft and Microsoft Suite applications
  • Experience in Capital Assets

The Sr. Accountant job responsibilities include:
  • Performing complex financial analysis
  • Accounting for construction work-in-progress (CWIP accounting)
  • Reconciling construction or capital projects
  • Reviewing/approving/posting journal entries related to capital projects
  • Performing month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Processing Citywide annual physical inventory
  • Providing assistance during the City’s independent financial and single audits
  • Performing other related duties as required.
