A Graduate Engineer job is available with the City of Fort Worth Water to work in the Strategic Operations Water/Wastewater Planning and Horizontal Asset Management group. Mentoring and skills development will be provided and encouraged. The Water Department seeks to train engineers to eventually fill upper-level engineering and management positions. As such, opportunities will likely exist to move to other divisions within the Water Department such that the employee can gain a well-rounded knowledge and view of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or related field with
  • No experience required
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years or more experience in design, construction, or operation of water or sewer systems.
  • Ability to compute hydraulic capacity and energy loss with a calculator or spreadsheet
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

The Graduate Engineer job responsibilities include:
  • Perform analysis using Innovyze water and wastewater modeling programs
  • Assist in the evaluation of water and sewer engineering studies submitted for potential developments within the City of Fort Worth.
  • Perform fire flow analysis using Innovyze water modeling program
  • Analyze water related data from SCADA and billing systems
  • Update hydraulic models using available GIS, SCADA and other data
  • Research as-built plan sets to answer infrastructure questions
  • Assess impact of potential annexation areas on existing infrastructure
  • Population growth estimation and spatial allocation
  • Prepare maps for discussions and presentations
  • Other related duties as required
