The Department of Internal Services is currently offering an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career as a Multimedia Technician I. Multimedia Technicians perform technical work in support of County print, mail and audiovisual services. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining high volume reprographics equipment, mail inserters, electronic scales, computerized mailing equipment, and equipment related to the production, broadcast and storage of audiovisual materials.

Note: The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.

Positions in this classification are in MEDICAL GROUP II - Moderate Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require moderate physical effort using arms, legs, back, and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) 10-25 pounds, and occasionally over 25 pounds. Generally, bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved.

Minimum Qualifications OPTION 1 :

Education : Completion of sixty (60) semester units of coursework that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system.

Experience : One (1) year of full-time, paid work experience which involved the use of high-volume printers, offset printing presses and/or other equipment related to the preparation and delivery of audiovisual, print and mail materials.

OPTION 2 :

Experience : Four (4) years of full-time, paid work experience which involved the use of high-volume printers, offset printing presses and/or other equipment related to the preparation and delivery of audiovisual, print and mail materials.

Substitution : Completion of fifteen (15) semester units in Print Technology, Graphic Communications, Film or a closely related field that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.

In addition to the options listed above, the following may be required:

License : Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.

SELECTION PROCESS :

Depending upon the number of applicants meeting the minimum qualifications and filing requirements, applicants may be scheduled for one of the processes listed below:

  • Certify Without Examination - In instances where the number of eligible candidates is less than or equal to the number of qualified applicants the Department is entitled to receive under Personnel Rule 4212, the competitive examination process will be waived and the names will be certified without an examination.
  • Written Examination - If required, the written examination will be offered in an online format. Please indicate on the supplemental questionnaire if you have the ability to complete an online examination.


Successful candidates will be placed on an employment list, effective for a minimum of 3 months (may be extended up to 12 months) and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
