With almost 20 years of experience in public service, Deanna has been serving as Oakland’s City Administrator since August 2011. She is a recognized leader in public policy and local government management. Prior to her current position, Deanna held several executive positions and worked on a variety of high level initiatives for San Jose, CA. Deanna began her career in public service as a Management Intern with the City of Oakland. Deanna holds two Bachelor of Art degrees, in Rhetoric and Ethnic Studies, from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
