Not only were recent college graduates encouraged to keep their resume to one page, but even senior-level professionals were assured that hiring managers would never read past the first page. Could a longer resume be better?
Over 30 years ago I had a conversation with a teenager that caught me completely off guard - and reminds me of a valuable principle to this day. Not long ago, two close friends of our family, Terry and Jacqueline, thoughtfully shared that their lifelong passion for antiquing as a small business had changed. It will be well into 2019 by the time you read this. Resolutions have stuck or come and gone. Work is demanding excellence, there is a change agenda, a call for new innovations, and you are being asked to resolve office conflicts. And, it is a particularly demanding time in history for those who work in government in the service of citizens.
